About PIRT

Governance

PIRT is coordinated through member leadership, transparent regional reporting and the Secretariat hosted by SPREP.

Member-led Consensus focused Secretariat supported

PIRT is a member-led coalition coordinated through agreed regional priorities, transparent reporting and Secretariat support.

Member leadership

The Roundtable is guided by representatives from member organisations who help set priorities, review progress and coordinate collective action between Pacific Islands conferences. This keeps PIRT focused on regional needs rather than a single organisation's agenda.

Decision making

PIRT works by collaboration and consensus wherever possible. Members use the Framework, annual meetings and working-group updates to identify shared priorities, track progress and raise issues that need regional coordination.

Working groups

Thematic working groups are the main delivery spaces between conferences. They bring together members and Pacific partners around specialist areas such as nature-culture, protected areas, species, nature-based solutions, learning networks and implementation support.

Reporting and accountability

Annual reports, guiding documents and briefing notes provide the public record of PIRT activity. They are available through the guiding documents library.
