Protected & conserved areas
Pacific progress towards GBF Target 3, marine spatial planning, Indigenous and Community Conserved Areas, and Locally Managed Marine Areas.
Stream sessions →Held every four years since 1975, the Pacific Islands Conference for Nature Conservation is the region's most important gathering for biodiversity policy and practice. Each Conference adopts a regional Framework and a State of Environment report that guide Pacific conservation work for the cycle ahead.
The 11th Pacific Islands Conference on Nature Conservation and Protected Areas will convene 7-11 September 2026 at the Tjibaou Cultural Centre in Noumea, co-hosted by SPREP, the Government of New Caledonia and PIRT.
More than 800 participants from Pacific governments, intergovernmental organisations, conservation NGOs, donors, scientists, customary leaders and Pacific communities will align priorities for the 2026-2030 Framework refresh and regional biodiversity delivery.
The 11th Conference programme is organised across four parallel streams that mirror the Pacific Framework's pillars and respond to the most urgent regional priorities.
